What lead to the Depression ?
Many historians refer to black Tuesday as the start of the great depression , within six days the stock market lost over $26 billion in value and $30 billion in shares ,but president hoover who was in office at the time blamed the depression on the poor structure of the banks

After the the stock market crashed in the 1929 most of the Americans took a drastic economic downturn and lost fortunes , millions soon became homeless. 1932 was the worst year of the depression with almost 25% of the work force unemployed

Theodore Roosevelt helped out with the new deal which were domestic programs by the congress and president .Also the AFDC was in effect 1935 which was meant to help the children with families with little or no income .

More than 12 million people joined the military during world war 2 ,and 17 million jobs were taken by unemployed
